Anti-virus programs do more than protect against computer viruses. They protect against spyware, malware, Trojans, and other unwanted software infiltrations. These uninvited guests to your computer can record the websites you visit and trigger unwanted advertisements, they can record your keystrokes to steal your identity, and they can trick you into thinking you need their program to remove false viruses, thus getting your credit card number when you try to purchase their bogus software.
With economic times being tough, many are forgoing renewing their anti-virus subscriptions and taking their chances, only to pay up to twice as much as the subscription would cost in order to have a virus removed professionally. But there are free anti-virus programs that can be obtained on line that do almost as good a job as the name brand programs but do not require a paid subscription.
AVG by Grisoft has a free version of its product that provides protection against viruses and spyware, including Trojans, as well as email monitoring.
Avast! is another company that provides the same basic protection against viruses in the free version of their product.
To obtain these programs simply Google AVG Free or Avast Free to find a host of sites that will download the program loader for you. You simply click on the downloaded program and it will install automatically.
There are other examples of free virus removal and virus protection programs on the internet. However some may not be what they seem so care must be taken when downloading any program, even the ones mentioned above, so do so at your own risk. At the same time, though, there is no excuse not to have virus protection. If you need assistance, please call us for a free, over the phone, consultation.
